Parking at the Museum for Ignite Anchorage

2009 May 5
by Dean

The Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum has ample parking in lots on the north end and west side of the museum. (Parking lots are marked in blue on illustration.) There is also overflow parking across the taxiway from the south end of the museum.

For those who aren’t familiar with driving around the Lake Hood Seaplane Base please take a look at the illustration below and follow these rules:

  • When driving to and from museum take care to stay out of the “no-drive zone” – the active taxiway that parallels the road. The taxiway is marked by a double yellow line on both sides. (Taxiway marked in red, roadway marked in green on illustration.) You can cross the taxiway to get to and from the museum but do not mistake it for the road and drive down it.
  • Aircraft always have the right-of-way. Cars and pedestrians must yield to aircraft at all times.
  • When aircraft is on the taxiway stay well outside the double yellow lines for your safety.
  • Park only in approved areas and don’t block roads or taxiways.

For your safety, please follow the rules and exercise caution while driving on Lake Hood Seaplane Base.
