Kay Vreeland, Blogger

Kay spent her career as university professor in Kobe, Japan, having fun lecturing, giving seminars, translating and enjoying as much sushi and sake as possible. After early retirement, Kay was an editor for the World Health Organization, Kobe Centre. In 2004, she blogged her relocation to Anchorage in Leaving Japan . . . for Dummies. Having survived the Great Hanshin Earthquake of 1995, she feels ready for anything Anchorage has to offer in the way of extremes. Currently looking for a new line of work, she sometimes appears as a substitute teacher in French in local high schools and middle schools, has completed the paperwork and training to help out at the Language Interpreter Center of the Alaska Immigration Justice Project, and loves being in several local book groups. She says Ignite Anchorage is her most exciting project of all, though. You can find her on Twitter as @cay_anchor.
